Themes: Plants, Healing, Rainbow Explanations: Shes a little flower who heals you with her magic pollen. Shes is specifically based on an African Violet, which can be associated with healing (or so I found when I researched).She has rainbow eyes and a rainbow dress, I'd like to think that her hair petals change color with her mood. I wanted her dress to kind of resemble a nurses dress in a way. Your favorite part: Gosh that pastel rainbow dress looks super nice Your theme suggestion: Wonderland???

She has has special type of healing that form into plants, from flowers to mushroom, which while it may give an extra boost, drains her energy. Her hands are of those of cheery blossoms. She as a a rainbow light to giver herself some mental peace. Your favorite part: I like doing the light light, with the rainbow effect! ^.^ I like drawing the mushroom without sketching. Your theme suggestion: Pianos!!!!

Themes: light, winter, jewel Explanations: What I had in mind for her is that she had a crystalline blight and has to hide in the wilds away from society. Light: The crystals on her emit light. Winter: There's snow and she's using a wolf pelt to keep warm. Her hands and feet are frost bitten. Jewel: She has a sickness that's causing glowing crystals to grow on her body. Your favorite part: I feel like everything is pretty cohesive. Your theme suggestion: scientist

Themes: Jewels, Winter, Light Explanations: They are a being made completely of light and their crystal parka allows the light to take a humanoid shape. Its pretty self explanatory with the parka being the winter part of the design as well as the crystal part, their eyes are also crystally Your favorite part: I like the concept itself the most Your theme suggestion: Circus

Themes: Light, winter, jewel Explanations: Sorry it's so scribbly. This is the idea I had at the beginning of the week but didn't have time for. (I still don't but I really wanted to draw it) Anyway, this is a jewel creature that creates the northern lights. It was what popped into my head first... You can find jewel in its body, light in that its movement creates the lights, and winter in the setting where it does this. Your favorite part: I just love the concept in general. Wish I had more time to make a good picture! Your theme suggestion: Rings
This week's entries are in! Good start this month, guys! I love these!! I'd like to first say a word about some entries! @baphomet - He seems like a pretty cool character, I can believe he'd be some sort of mentor to people! Maybe it's the mustache... Love the jewel wing design! eternalashley - Ohh such a lovely idea! All the themes are very well implemented. The physique is unique and interesting, certainly not what I could come up with! I'd love to see this character take a journey on learning about the world. That's the feeling it gives me, anyway! Congratulations, mangolee for your winning weekly design! Nicely done! Very cool idea. I hope she'll find a cure someday! I love the frostbitten detail. The colors work nice together and the three themes flow very well. I can tell you worked hard on this idea! Great work, and thank you for participating! Thanks everyone who entered! Even if you didn't win, you always have a chance next week, or even for the monthly chibi raffle! The more times you enter this contest, the better chances you have of winning that~! But more than that, my goal for this contest is for us to all have fun together, getting better at designing characters!
It's a new week! Week 2- Due Saturday May 13th, 11:59PM EST
Themes: technology(eternalashley ), *fairy tales(@baphomet ), clock(schribbit )
*I'm going to say any classic stories count as fairy tales. So you're safe choosing Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, Narnia, things like that.

This is my first time doing one of these, how exciting! Themes: Technology, Fairy Tale, Clock Explanations: I used the Candy Witch from Hansel and Gretel, and in my version she was blinded by the parents of the last children she ate. She managed to get away and replace one of her eyes with a cybernetic one (eyes are hard to come by y'know) She always has her pocket watch with her to keep an eye on how long her children have been cooking for. Your favorite part: I dunno, I just really like the drawing overall. I don't do a lot of design work ever, and I usually draw chibi's, so to see that I made something like this makes me really happy. Your theme suggestion: uhhhhh, Puppets?

Themes: Technology, Fairy Tale, Clock Explanations: This piece is appropriately named 'Jack and the Bean Clock'. I wanted to go for a sorta steampunk-esque look, along with a mixture of at least what I picture Jack (from Jack and the Bean Stalk) and the Mad Hatter I suppose? The little machine in his hand is a 'Bean Growth Calculator.' You drop a bean in the top of the machine, the clock on the front begins to spin, and the small screen beneath the clock will tell you how long the bean will take to grow! Then the bean is deposited at the small slot at the bottom! Your favorite part: The premise of this character, Jack and the Bean Clock. Its not clever at all, but it's funny to me. Your theme suggestion: Mirrors

Ok first time enterin' this shebang so i'll give it a go Themes: Technology, Fairy Tale, Clock Explanations: So I decided to mash together Steampunk, Androids, and the Little Match Girl into one design. The story is that an android in the guise of a little girl has her circuits freezing over due to the cold, and the gear on her back signifies how much time she has left until she's no longer operational (They're mechanical dials like a slot machine). Due to having no heating system in her clockwork frame, she's using a steampunk style lighter to keep herself warm. Your favorite part: I like how I smashed the three themes together into something cohesive. Your theme suggestion: Decay

Themes: technology, fairy tales, clock Explanations: A cyborg beast inspired by Beauty and the Beast, with a countdown clock on his chest winding down until the time the body he was forced into will stop sustaining him. This nobleman accidentally slighted a mad scientist many years ago, and in disproportionate retribution, she chose him to be the first test subject for her cybernetics. To be even more petty, she build in a self-destruct module that will will destroy him when it's finished counting down. She then turned on the staff, but was more merciful with them; only removing and replacing one limb or organ each. Only true love can save him, for who could love a beast? Well actually, it's more like: who could love him enough to put all that work into trying to figure out how to free him from the cybernetics before it kills him? He's only got 4 days left so they better hurry. Tick tock. Your favorite part: I LOVE CHARACTER DESIGN so I loved the process but if I have to pick a specific part of the drawing, I'd say the faceplate. It took me a while to get it the way I wanted it. Your theme suggestion: Crowns

Themes: Fairytale, Clocks, Technology Explanations: So I went with designing a scene this week instead of just a character. The story is of Sleeping Beauty, instead of a curse the dark fairy (in this case the evil nurse) tricks Briar Rose into falling into a cryogenic sleep for 100 years. This image shows to moment that Briar is locked in the chamber as the dark nurse switches it on So the clock is the countdown clock on the sleeping chamber that won't let Briar out until it has run out, the chamber itself is the technology, and Sleeping Beauty is the fairytale itself. Your favorite part: I like the concept of it all, I think it is a creative take on the Sleeping Beauty fairytale. I am slo very happy with how the entire image turned out Your theme suggestion: Candle

Themes: technology, fairy tales, clock Explanations: I chose too mash up Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood! She was a princess that likes clocks a lot. One day, she deceded to go on an adenture with her red hood! She had the knowledge of combining technology and regular clocks that the little cart she built was able to follow her, due to the clocks she has one her (call it a "Clock Magnet"!) Your favorite part: I had a lot of fun making the design on paper (Even tho, it was digitally finished. ^^;.) Your theme suggestion: Dango? ...plz? ;w;
