Okay, we all have inspirations. Including a dunce like me, lol. So, I'm making a thread for what inspires your fanime! Rather it's an anime, western cartoon, game, or another fanime! You tell me! I'll start with mine!
Carrot Fluffs - During it's earlier days, it was just inspired by Di Gi Charat! Though, now it has inspirations from Clannad and old final Fantasy
Penalty All About - Possibly Di Gi Charat and Utena back when it was web-novel! For it and Carrot Fluffs way of telling the story is... with Fanime Reviews (the one before Trevor) Top 5 Tokyo Mew Mew Fanimes and "Ichigo's Adventures" is like in an RPG format.
Mi-Pie - Fanime Rehab shit. Straight up, lol.
Sour Candy Filled Donuts - Di Gi Charat. Straight up.
Yeah, as you can tell, I got inspired by Di Gi Charat a lot, lol.

Project: Unknown - I used to be really into the details of World War 2 end of junior high/beginning of high school. And time travel is just an interesting concept by itself. I'm not sure how exactly the two ended up together in my head but they did. So I suppose just straight up history influenced its conception. Because it started out as an RP, its hard to tell since most of it was just written on the fly and in the moment! Not a lot of research was done until after its initial draft. There was someone else making some sort of motion comic at the time, but it never came out and I can't remember what it was called, but that's how I came to decide on the style for how it was produced.
Duality - Duality is based on a dream I had in high school; I actually had the dream around the same time I started Project: Unknown. I have a couple stories I've tossed around involving twins but this is the one I like the most. I'd say the way I'm going about the story telling might be reminiscent of Blue Exorcist? At least when I'm writing the vibe reminds me of how I felt watching that anime.
Erstwhile - Oh gee. I don't really know for this one, it was made so quickly. There was a book I read in junior high that takes place in the afterlife and that was sort of the vibe I was going for? I'm so bad with names, don't know what this one was called either. In the book the characters aged backwards and then were reborn when they became babies. I was sort of going for the 'rebirth' idea in Erstwhile but I didn't reach the point in the plot where that would make sense to anyone who has seen what was released of this series.
Flicker - Powerpuff girls lol. More-so for the simplistic style than for a plot. Some Ben10 vibes would have come in later if I'd gotten past episode 1.
Wander to Leshy - Another story based on a dream. The dream didn't make it into the final story, but a lot of the original writing did (since this was another idea that I had started in early high school).
I believe that's everything?

Don't Take My Hat!: It's main inspirations are School Rumble and Kill me Baby, though also takes inspiration from Pani Poni Dash, Sgt. Frog, other anime comedy, and the fanime community. Tokyo Magic Mew: Parody of the fact that there are so many TMM OCs and series. TFM probably had some influence too considering all of the ironic similarities they have. Girl and Flower: Not Undertale. GvT: This was the most on the spot thing I've made. Sandor Goes to School is the only inspiration I can think of, and my odd fascination of characters without arms thanks to Wario World where you can get golden trophies of Wario without arms. Predecessor of a New World: Its really difficult to say. I suppose Zones because of background convenience. It came before I knew about Rokka no Yuusha. Knight Friends: The idea of having a cast of knights has been inspired by my reoccurring logic of not showing a character's mouth to avoid lip syncing, and the story was brought to life after having a conversation with Frosted Eclair about etiquette. Old answer: For DTMH there are several things that inspired the series: The very first thing that was the inspiration behind this idea was just wanting to make a school themed anime series. Thus created Epic Phail High which was a collaborative project that I worked on with funnybunnyjay. This however only ended up being a one episode comic which ended up okay, but kind of awkward because it was being written by one of us at a time. The teacher that jay created was so great in this series that I decided that he would make the teacher in the remade version of this school themed series. After the epic fail that Epic Phail was, I tried thinking of new ideas. The inspiration for a plot came from School Rumble. School Rumble also inspired the series by having comedic scenes that I enjoyed watching. Character designs were made up in the spot, and all at once. I remember making the character designs after watching Baka and Test since one of the designs was an obvious copy of the F students which I don't plan to use. What inspired me to actually make this series a fully animated animation was Kill me Baby. The fact that an anime series could be animated so simplistically made me believe that I could actually make a series look like an anime. It turns out that its not so simple though. Generally comedy anime that I've watched inspired the series. This would also include Pani Poni Dash, Sgt. Frog, and maybe Lucky Star. The series has also been and is continuing to be inspired by the fanime community.
Tokyo Magic Mew was inspired by a podcast discussion when I mentioned that there are certain words used a lot of times in the names of fanime series. If anybody finds when this discussion is then please send the time stamp to me lol.
Xiphos Blade was inspired by Terra Lucis, Kama the Legend/Theif with the medieval themes. The style, however, is inspired by Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Dungeon Tale: I really loved the mystery vibes and treasure hunting of pokemon mystery dungeon and the dungeons of legend of zelda + monsters of inuyasha. and then basically took that love and blended it together! Lea was inspired by an old grumpy childhood friend while Miki was inspired by a guinea pig I used to have... I'm...not sure why.. x'''D

Into The Stars: Honestly I can't remember exactly!! I know Yuki Yuna Is a Hero is one of them!
Not Reality: I got inspired by an RP I was in a few months before writing the story, also for the Characters I got inspired by Noragami ;P
Terror Girls: Magical Girl Raising Project and Madoka Magica for sure were my main inspirations, mostly MG Raising Project because it's not "really" that dark of a MG series but it does involve magical girl groups against each other and that one girl who's always against magical girl violence lol.
I have other series too but they're either not important or cancelled haha.

Twist of Fate: T'was mainly inspired from RPG Games like Tales of Xillia, Rhapsody, and The Elder Scrolls series. The action-adventure genre is just so interesting. I love combat-based games like Tekken, one of the reasons why I'm killing my hands with fight scenes... And I also loved the animation in Charlotte (anime), Attack on Titan and Fate/Stay Night when I was in the middle of making it before I got tired and canceled the thing.
My Demonic Conscience: Cute anime girls pushed me to create this stuff, hence the pink-haired protagonist! I was really pumped to make the antag just lurking around the main girl's side and pretending to be her friend because I just love making traitorous characters. Even though the fanime isn't about magical girls, watching Card Captor Sakura and Sailor Moon rubs off this kind of moe air on me.
Time's Puppet: When the series was still a comic, the characters were heavily inspired from existing ones in RPG games. They had no definite personality and I CRINGE when I remember it. The series was inspired from the causes of massive invasion and war. After getting inspired once again by Attack on Titan, I decided to turn it into a fanime! From here on, the characters were somewhat changed, they began to gain personality and depth because I was pushed by impressive writing sites (which I thank until now). After giving it some thought, I wanted the series to be like a slideshow type fanime, no animation, just pictures in a whole video. But that concept kinda left me when I rewrote the whole plot and decided to let the whole thing be animated. Characters were removed/added and their designs were thoroughly changed. Now, it's inspired from Yona of the Dawn (in terms of character writing) and Noragami (in terms of animation). There are a lot more, but I don't wanna list too much.
So yeah. Behold.

Odd 4: Mainly Pani Poni Dash with like a hint of Oh Super Milk Chan (which I only watched like an episode or two of). A lot of the ideas for it came from sitting in a room with the people that Sterling and Alyssa are based off of and we were all saying random things that could happen in the series, to which I then expanded into making a legit plot (with some suggestions from my sister, aka the real Marissa)
Mew Academy and Guilderland Mew Mew: Obviously Tokyo Mew Mew
Eternal Negima: Obviously Negima, but we can forget that I tried to make this series at all and it would be fine with me.

Super Secret Witchcraft Club : Persona 4 straight up. I was really obssessed with it at the time I made it that I didn't even realised how much it was similar to it. Luckilly it has toned down a bit, though I am not sure what else had inspired it lol The dailly lives of 6 Gods: This one is easier to explain. I was really inspired by funnybunnyjay's fanime "Sandor goes to school" that I wanted to make something similar with some unused god characters of mine! Zodiacs in : At the time I made Zodiacs in, I was really obsessed with astrology posts on tumblr and I thought that I could take the really steryotyped versions of the zodiac and make them get into some weird situations Harmonic Tides : This one is based on an old comic I made back when I was 11 that was based on Mermaid Melody. Nothing much to add here too I guess lol.

Ah man, so many inspirations.
For Tokyo Magic Star, I'd have to say my main inspirations are Perfect Blue and the original Evangelion series. I take heavy characterization based on the band "Shinsei Kamattechan" as well.
I am also starting up another quick-y type series because I want to try a different aesthetic and story type? It's called Terrance Terribly Troubled, and as of right now I'm taking a weird mixture of some of Key's works (Air, Clannad, Little Busters, etc.) and Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko for inspiration for that one. The idea really popped out of no where, so I'm still kind of unsure on what really inspired me though?

Akumu No Yume: Lots of Hellsing, Hellsing was a huge inspiration there. Also some Naruto and Inuyasha too, as far as Akooboo no Booboo's origins go
DojiiBoru: The deadline Uuuuuh, the oversaturation of sports anime that come out over the years
Our Life In The Sphinx - Episode 4: Our Life in the Sphinx, Fist of the Northstar, Metal Gear Solid Franchise
Space Gays Celestial Eidolon: I don't really know, the lore i built for a world over a year. Nothing really that I can think of? I don't know //shrugs
B.U.L.L.Y.S.: Its a mish mash of DBZ, Mob Psycho 100, One Punch Man, a bit of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Magical Girl School definitely and maybe even a smidgen of Ouran High School Hosts Club for not very obvious reasons lol

JCR I think might've been a spawn from my Mekakucity Actors phase. Aki was supposed to be one of many heroes but I changed everything completely so I could throw something out on the youtubes. After a while I realized I had no idea what I was doing with the characters or their motives. Lucifer Academy of Future Evil-Doers was based on this roleplay I did years ago. But instead of keeping it like a... Harry Potter meets Persona 4 thing I wanted to make it about an idiot summoner kid. Little Witch Academia probably had something to do with the angle I was planning to go for. Our Automatically-Saved Adventure Log was going to be based on this on vocaloid song or two and experiences I had playing mmos. Just Another Alice was from my love of adventure-y things based on fairy tales. I wanted to portray the idea of an "Alice" as a reoccurring thing. The title had a double meaning that referred to the fact that someone had fallen into this fantasy world for like the millionth time and that the plot was yet another thing based on Alice in Wonderland. Notice Me, Senpie!!! is just a bad pun that also pokes fun at high school romance anime by making the female literally crave for her crush. CARD GAME THE ANIMETION is something I have not really touched in a while but it's basically making fun of YuGiOh.

Decorum has it's roots in magical girls like Sailor Moon and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, but it also draws inspiration from things like RWBY and Skulduggery Pleasant and other various things I've been into over the years!
